160 years of Park Grass

5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The Park Grass Experiment studies the effects of fertilisers, organic manures and lime on continuous hay production.

Started in 1856, it is the oldest ecological experiment in existence and continues to show the impact of farming practices on grassland biodiversity.

Join us to learn about Park Grass:

  • History, design and management
  • Contribution to ecological and environmental change research

Carnival at the Castle

Afasic Three and Four Counties Bike Ride

Please join us for an enjoyable day out in the rolling countryside, cycle along country lanes, through scenic villages, and lots of fresh air! Take part in our annual charity bike ride for Afasic, a relatively small specialist charity helping children with communication problems and their families. 

The Event

- Saturday 25th June 2016, start & finish at Audley End Station

- Choice of 32 mile three counties ride or 66 mile four counties ride

The three counties include Essex, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire, adding Suffolk for the four counties. There will be support vehicles, a bike mechanic to keep everyone moving, first-aiders, snack stops, route maps and lots of encouragement along the way.

Buntsfest 16

Buntsfest 16 is a charity music festival of two halves. The day is aimed towards families with kids catered for of all ages. A huge inflatable zone with our very popular all day wrist band for an incredibly low price of only £5 each. Musical talents carefully selected from in and around Hertfordshire perform back-to-back throughout the day to provide the perfect setting for a relaxing care-free weekend. Bring a picnic or simply indulge in the mouth watering cuisine offered by independant 'street food' providers and our two bars are well stocked and reasonibly priced.

As the sun sets and the night draws in, with the spectacular stage lighting bouncing across the audience let the music take you on a journey as the headline acts perform a wealth of crowdpleasers and sing-alongs. As midnight approaches we hand the stage to the DJ's, spinning tracks until close at 2am.

Hertford Castle Teddy Bears’ Picnic with Brass Band Concert & Fun on the Water

Families and friends are invited to attend the annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic held in the Castle Grounds. Children are urged to bring along a teddy, join in a bear hunt, teddy bear parade and watch the Punch and Judy show.

A live brass band concert will perform for visitors to enjoy and Hertford Castle will be open to the public. In addition for 2016, water activities will be available on the River Lea for children and adults to take part in.

ST IPPOLYTS UTD FC 5 a side Tournament and Fun Day

Bigger and better than our first Tournament Day last year.We are hosting a 24 team all day 5 a side tournament at the Recreation Ground, Orchard Close, St Ippolyts on SATURDAY JULY 16th 2016. There will be a fete like day with our Grand Summer Draw taking place after the Tournament Final presentation Ceremony. There will be lots of fun throughout the day with side stalls, games, all day BBQ and a Bar. Soft drinks, Tea and coffee will be available all day and there are toilet facilities on site.

Tournament will run on a league basis and each team is guaranteed 5 games. The entry forms are now available and the fee is £50 per squad of 8 players. As this is a fundraising event for our club, the entry fee will be refunded to all teams who sell 100 tickets for our Grand Summer Draw at £1 each.

Stall spaces are available from £25 for the day. NO FOOD OR DRINK SELLERS. Please contact me if you are interested in getting involved.

Rock at the Castle

Discover Hertford Castle Tours & Brass Band Concert – Marking the 800th Year Anniversary of the Siege of Hertford Castle

Hertford Castle will be open to the public with guided tours of the historical Grade 1 Listed building. Learn about its history and royal connections. Visitors can also book onto a Castle Walls and Grounds tour. A traditional Brass Band concert will be performing live on the Castle lawn for visitors to sit back, relax and soak up the views. This event will also mark the 800th year anniversary of the Siege of Hertford Castle.

Étape d'Amwell
