Albantide Street Party planned for June 2013

Jun 23rd All Day

To be held at St Albans city centre as part of the Albantide weekend.

Each year the Cathedral holds a procession with giant carnival puppets to re-enact the last days of St Alban, Britain’s first Christian martyr.

Alban was a local citizen of the Roman town of Verulamium and was executed for giving shelter to a Christian priest who was fleeing the Romans.

In 2013, the cathedral’s procession will take place on Saturday 22 June. The street party will be held as part of the celebrations the next day on Sunday 23 June.
